flea market day

With 2 of 3 at camp, my youngest and I headed out for a quick flea market trip. He, of course, got bored and hot....but he did score a "new" old coin and a comic book. Not too shabby. I only had a camera phone, but had to take a picture of all that beautiful bakelite. One day I will own a bakelite bracelet, but I'm searching for one that is either a cuff or clamps, and it has to have a carved floral design, and...it wouldn't hurt if it was yellow. That's not too much to ask is it? (The last pic is for my sister.)

I think it's fabulous that you take your kids to the flea market with you. GReat memories for them...... and instilling an appreciation for treasure hunting and the past is healthy, healthy, healthy!

I have a friend who has an enormous affection for bakelite jewelry. Every time she joins me at a flea market (which isn't often, as I'm on a MISSION) she spends at least an hour at the bakelite booth. This is NOT an exaggeration. I will do the entire market and come back to her at the same booth. What's funny is she spends all this time picking out 2 or 3 bracelets when she could afford to buy the entire inventory 8 times over!! I think it's cute that she takes such great care in her choices.

Somehow I figured you weren't suddenly interested in vintage (scary, scary) toys!
